Porsche’s 4 door “coupe” is starting to show up on the web in anticipation of its official debut, and while its looking a little better than the camo’d prototypes we’ve been seeing for the last year, thats not saying a whole lot. Porsche is showing a revised Boxster and Cayman in L.A. this week, proving that even retro-modern classics need to be changed up every few years too. The changes to the exterior of the car have been made mostly to the front bumper with reshaped intakes, slightly reworked headlights, and LED taillights. Excited yet? You should be, as the little Porsche’s looks need little in the way of improvement. But contrary to the changes you see on the exterior, its the changes underneath the body that are the real news. Next generation Porsche Cayman with increased power and efficiency

Porsche is presenting the second generation of the mid-engined Cayman sports coupe at the Los Angeles Motor Show (November 21 – 30) this week. The highlight is the new, flat-six ‘boxer’ engines, developed to incorporate new technical features from the ground up, providing not only more power, but also significantly greater fuel efficiency. The interior of the new Mustang is an area that needed the biggest improvement in order to compete more effectively with the new Camaro. While there was little wrong with the design of the ‘05 car’s interior, the materials were a little rough, especially in the lower end models. Ford is showing off the 2010 Mustang today with a whole bunch of pix, inside and out. The new Mustang has a thoroughly different look about it compared to the “original’ 05-09 cars, being that those cars were the first all new Mustangs in a couple decades. Many top GOP senators feel so strongly about not helping US automakers that they are going so far as to call them “dinosaurs” that should disappear altogether. At odds with Democrats who would like to give GM some of the $700 billion already approved to rescue banks, they feel that the Detroit automakers deserve to fail for not being competitive or innovative. Mazda and Ford have had a very close relationship for the last almost 30 years, its a strategic partnership with sharing of vehicle architectures and the like for mostly small cars. While the brand is widely treated as part of Ford’s stable of brands, its never been a wholly owned subsidiary. Instead, Ford chose to acquire enough shares to make for a controlling stake in the Zoom-Zoom brand.
