Sell your car, buy your next one in our Classified Ad Chat Rooms

Chatting is convenient

The Internet is a wonderful thing if you like instant gratification. Instead of driving out to pick up a movie, you can start streaming it in seconds with an Internet connection. You can find, sample, and download music from the Internet quicker and more comfortably than you ever could walking around a record store. You could have pizza, flowers, even furniture delivered to your house without ever leaving home. The Internet has added a great deal of convenience to consumer’s lives and it can only get better.

Neighborhood Motors would like to bring some of that convenience to private-party auto sales. We’ve already shown how smart buying a private-party car can be money-wise, but the process itself could use a little improvement. When buyers and sellers make that initial contact its usually because of an email message or a phone call.

Clearly those two methods get the job done but they can be a little inconvenient. You can send an email right away but that doesn’t mean you’ll get a reply back as fast, sometimes you get a reply by the end of the day but other times maybe a day or two could go by before you hear back.

“Neighborhood Motors would like to supplement email and the telephone with a new option: chat rooms!”

Phone calls can be pretty instant… if the person you are calling picks up. There are plenty of times when making or getting a phone call is just inconvenient. So you leave a message, which is ok I guess. Searching for the right car, going thru pictures and video, doing a little homework on a vehicle… emails and phone calls really dont follow that same pattern of instant convenience.

Neighborhood Motors would like to supplement email and the telephone with a new option: chat rooms! Every classified ad we have includes access to its own separate chat room. This makes that initial contact between buyer and seller a natural and automatic part of searching for a vehicle online. Find the right car, read the vehicle description, inspect the pictures and video… log in to the chat room to communicate in real-time with a seller to let them know you’re interested and to ask any questions that weren’t already answered in the description.

Shopping for a car online now means you can communicate with a seller as soon as you see the right car.  No waiting for email, no writing down phone numbers or leaving voicemail.  Communicating with a seller is just as natural as clicking on a picture…ideally atleast.

Clearly, not every seller can be online all the time.  That isn’t the idea.  The chat rooms are an extra option to increase the convenience for buyers, and to give sellers an extra edge in selling a car.  Motivated sellers will be online more often to “work the crowd”, finding prospects and providing the most customer service.  A seller can let buyers know what hours they are available to chat by posting those hours in the ad description.

If you have a computer at work to check your email, you can probably set aside some time to monitor your chat room and chat up a few prospects.  Otherwise, you can set aside some time at home later in the day to monitor your chat room.  Finding a buyer privately takes a little work, the alternative being to accept a trade-in offer that undervalues your trade by thousands of dollars.

So auto classified ads with built in chat rooms can be a real convenience.  Buyers can get the info they need right away, sellers put in some time to move a car as quickly as possible.
